The project is located in the south of the Xingjia Homestead in Dongbang Nichanglou Wetland Park in Changshu.
Nichanglou Wetland Park farmland planting water-saving irrigation measures reduces the agricultural non-point source pollution, but there are still some kinds of pollutants discharged into the surrounding water. The pollutant in the tail water of farmland is processed through wetland purification to avoid eutrophication of surrounding water.
The total area is 0.68 ha and the wetland area is 0.5 ha. The tail water produced by the surrounding 3.64 ha of farmland is 32,000 t/y. Total investments of project are 300,000 Yuan.
The wetland is transformed from the original fish ponds, through the landscape transforming, vegetation planting and isolation measures, the area is divided into subsidence area, emerged plant, submerged plant area, floating water plant area and shallow water area. The tail water of farmland will run through the five successive purification areas, in order to reduce the pollutants in the water and form a multi-level landscape. At the same time, the windmill water circulation system is set up in the wetland to activate the water of the whole wetland.
The purification effect of wetland is significant, and the amount of pollution treated is about: total nitrogen 60 kg/y, ammonia nitrogen 6.0 kg/y, total phosphorus 1.0kg/y. It is typical farmland tail water wetland purification demonstration project in Taihu River Basin.
