Research and Demonstration Project of Sewage Treatment in West Tuanjie River Based on Wetland Ecological Engineering

I. Project Overview

The project is located in Tuanjie River, in west of Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province. The project includes 700m sewage project constructed on the mid-stream, 1,100 m3 ecological dredging, and 0.12 ha upstream stable ponds and surface flow constructed wetlands. The total investment is 1 million Yuan.

II. Project Goals

River surface water can be improved from worse Ⅴ to Ⅴ class water. Through this project, living environment, ecological environment and environmental capacity can be improved, it also can promote the water quality in Zhenjiang City.

III. Project Content

1. Interception-pollutant Project

Set an intercepted dam on the river mid-stream, the seriously polluted water form upstream will be intercepted and flow into the municipal pipe network through sewer. We will set inspection well on the site of sewage draining exit, and make the lines that lay from west to east collect the livers’ sewage along the river.

2. Construction of stabilization pond and constructed wetland system

We transform the existing ponds and collect the surrounding waste water into waste water treatment system, and then discharge into rivers. If there are no sewage drains on the neighborhood, we will set ditch and drains water in to the system.

3. Farmland artificial wetlands

We transform the existing ponds into farmland artificial wetland, and purify the surrounding farmland tail water, which can reduce agricultural surface pollution effectively.

4. Plants buffer zone

Through investigation around the project area, we confirm that the buffer breadth for plants growing is about 4 m. We will also plant wet herbs on 2 meters outside the normal water line, and plant woods, trees and ground plant on the 4 meters outside of the normal water line.

5. Ecological Dredging Engineering
