The concept “International Wetland City” was put forward by RAMSAR in 12th Conference of the Parties to Wetlands Convention in 2015 in Punta del Este, Uruguay, to promote the restoration and sustainable use of wetlands in urban development and urbanization.
With the strong support of the State Forestry Bureau, the 10th International Wetland Conference has achieved great success.
During the conference, Changshu’s contribution in wetland protection and recovery were accepted by the domestic and foreign experts. Experts in RAMSAR encouraged Changshu City to declared "Wetlands International City".
