Prof. Shuqing An created the system of "strengthening purification, ecological purification, ecological restoration and ecological beautification" of water pollution control in small watershed. He undertook the first engineering project in the history of WWF, and established "the model of wetland restoration based on community participation", which initiated the first river of wetland restoration project in WWF. The establishment of "the system of wetland conservation and restoration in Taihu Lake Basin" was promoted by the government of Jiangsu Province. He also built the "Dalian Lake wetland restoration model: based on community participation", "wetland conservation and reasonable utilization of Changshu model" and "wetland organic agriculture and sustainable development of regional economy model" and "artificial wetland strengthen purification and clean small watershed water quality improvement complete sets of technology" and other international famous achievements.
Since 2000, Professor An Shuqing is one of the leading experts in the field of wetland. He has completed 200 projects including wetland park planning, wetland restoration construction and scientific demonstration, constructed wetland design and wetland exhibition hall. The projects cover an area of 2,700 square kilometers, crossing 17 provinces and 48 municipalities, which account for 5‰ of the total wetland in China. As one of the first group of experts in designing, assessing and building national wetland park, he had surveyed across 200 national wetland parks in China, assessing and monitoring them.
